Sie kann leicht im Feldstecher geesehen werden.<br \/>\nEntdeckt wurde die Galaxis am 1.11.1788 von William Herschel.<\/p>\n<p>Bei diesem Objekt handelt es sich um eine Balkenspirale vom Typ SBcd mit einer visuellen Helligkeit von 8,2mag.<br \/>\nSie geh\u00f6rt zur M81-Galaxiengruppe und ist ca 12 Mio Lichtjahre entfernt.<\/p>\n<p>Im Zentrum dieser Gx befinden sich mehrere offene Sternhaufen die in H-II-Regionen eingebettet sind. Sie enthalten massereiche, sehr heisse Sterne. Diese Gebiete sind Strahlungsquellen nicht nur von H-II -, sondern auch von UV- und R\u00f6ntgenstrahlung, woraus sich schliessen l\u00e4sst, dass es dort bereits mehrere Supernovae gegeben hat.
